Play golf on the sunny side of Åland
Eckerö Golf with its 18-hole golf course is located in western Åland. It offers exciting golf challenges for both beginners and more experienced golfers in beautiful surroundings with easy access.
Convenient Eckerö Golf
Eckerö Golf opened for business in 1995 with a 9-hole golf course and driving range. The 18-hole golf course was opened in 2014, and before the 2015 season the course was renovated and new bunkers and beautiful water hazards were put in to add more challenge to the playing experience. As a part of the 25th anniversary celebrations in 2020, a new practice area for short-range training was completed.
The driving range is centrally located and has ten tees. Eckerö Golf's services include access to changing rooms, showers and toilets – a new club house with a café was built in 2025. Here, you can also buy gloves, balls and other equipment, and hire golf clubs and carts.
Four tees
The ‘front nine’, holes 1–9, are a forest course, framed by pine forest and marshland. The ‘back nine’, holes 10–18, have an open feel and are located in an agricultural landscape.
The course has four different tees, allowing players of all abilities to enjoy a great golfing experience. This means that beginners, juniors and shorter hitters can reach the green in regulation.
At the same time, the course offers a challenge for golfers of all levels, including elite players, particularly on the wooded holes.
On the sunny side of Åland
Eckerö Golf is located just 10 minutes by car from the Berghamn ferry terminal in Eckerö and 30 minutes from Mariehamn.
Eckerö is surrounded by the sea on all sides – this is where three horizons meet! It has both stunning sandy beaches and smooth red granite rocks. If you want to watch the sun set over the sea, you’re in the right place.
Eckerö has the most sunshine hours in Åland, which in turn enjoys more sunshine than, for example, Gotland in Sweden.

History and sandy beaches
You can trace the history of the Viking voyages, as well as the Postrodden sailing and rowing race, which commemorates the risky postal service across the Sea of Åland when Eckerö marked the frontier between Tsarist Russia and the Swedish mainland. Visit the Eckerö Post and Customs House, which is open from the beginning of May until the beginning of September. Art exhibitions are often held there, and admission is free.
Eckerö offers a wide range of activities suitable for all ages. Käringsund Game Safari and the Åland Hunting and Fishing Museum are just a couple of examples. Did you know that some of the best beaches in Åland can be found in Eckerö? Degersand is a must on a sunny summer day, and Sandviken beach by the Post and Customs House, as well as the beach in Käringsund, are among the most child-friendly options. A good tip is to ask locals for their favourite hidden gems.
Cozy accommodation
Eckerö offers a wide range of accommodation, including cabins, guesthouses, campsites, cafés, restaurants, holiday villages and hotels. For example, the cosy Björnhofvda Gård hotel is a hidden gem in the countryside, just 10 minutes from Eckerö Golf.
If you prefer to stay by the sea, you’ll find hotels in Storby, Eckerö, and campsites and cottages in places like Käringsund and Degersand. Visiting Åland by boat? You can moor at the beautiful Käringsund marina.
