TA PLATS! – PRIDE WEEK’S CULTURAL EVENING AND OPEN STAGE
An evening where words, music, and courage take center stage.
During Åland Pride, we fill Kulturvillan with words, music, stories, humour, and everything else that deserves a little more space.
The evening’s common thread is Karin Boye – her writing, life, courage, and longing to be whole and true to oneself. Saga Fylkeson will guide us through the evening, but we create the space together.
Here, you can use the stage and the space in whatever way feels right for you. For example, you can:
- read your own text, poem, or diary entry
- sing a song or play the piano available at the venue
- tell a story, perform a short monologue, or try some stand-up
- read a letter – to someone else, to your younger self, or to the future
- share something unfinished, unexpected, queer, funny, sad, or simply impossible to put a label on
You don’t need to be used to performing on stage, and your contribution doesn’t have to be perfect. There is room here for the hesitant, the unfinished, and the brave too. A contribution can be anything from a few seconds to a maximum of five minutes. The small things deserve space too.
The stage is yours – but if the stage feels a little too much like a stage, you’re just as welcome to stand or sit somewhere else in the room. You can also come exactly as you are, take a seat in the audience, and simply enjoy the evening.
Everyone is warmly welcome, regardless of identity, experience, or previous stage experience.
Would you like to make sure you have a place in the programme? Sign up with Saga at [email protected]. Spontaneous contributions are also welcome, time permitting.
During the evening, the bar will be open, with drinks and snacks available for purchase.
