Katrina Chamber Music Festival 2026
In August, music lovers are welcomed to the Katrina Chamber Music Festival in Åland. Over four days, around ten events will take place at different venues across the islands.
This year’s theme, “Total Festival,” draws inspiration from the concept of totalitarianism in different periods of history, and in particular from the era and ideas of philosopher Hannah Arendt. There are many examples of how music and composers have been influenced by totalitarian social structures.
Throughout the festival, art, music and discussions on freedom and oppression are woven together. The festival’s artistic director, Cecilia Zilliacus, together with her network of professional musicians, has created a programme that will leave no one untouched.
Among the concerts and events are also free events, a children’s concert, and a thoughtful and relaxing brunch concert that brings the festival’s intense chamber music days to a close.
More information about the festival and programme is available on the website.
Tip: a 3-concert pass for €50, or why not a full festival pass for €100 for the complete experience!
