Encounter with Åland’s Stone Age – A Fascinating Exhibition
Welcome to a captivating exhibition that explores Åland’s unique Stone Age history and the mysterious clay figurines. In the museum’s entrance niches, you’ll discover two exciting themes: The Discovery of Åland’s Stone Age, and The Story of the Jettböle Idol – an iconic symbol of Åland’s Stone Age and the Pitted Ware culture.
Encounter with the Figurines – Face to Face
Step into a world where enlarged versions of the figurines invite you to take a closer look. Are they humans? Animals? Or something in between? A selection of original figurines from various archaeological sites is also on display in a showcase – offering a detailed glimpse into their craftsmanship.
